Hi, I'm Erin

I’ve always been a teacher. In my teens, I taught swimming. In my twenties, I taught high school English and started teaching at the college level. When I became a full-time university lecturer, I was fortunate to have opportunities like meeting students who’d moved to the U.S. from around the world—and even teaching adults in Indonesia and China.

But in 2016, I was inspired by the DIY attitude of the Millennials in my college classes. One semester, during finals, we were all huddled up in the campus cafe, working on the final projects they had to do for my Professional Writing class. My students were launching initiatives, publishing sci-fi novels, starting businesses, selling products and services.

I thought: I can do that too.

And, I wanted to bring my tools—empowering, practical strategies that help everyone use language strategically—to people outside the university environment.

High-Value Writing was born soon after. Now, I get to work with professionals in all sorts of businesses and agencies—from finance to manufacturing to public service. I love sharing the surprising ways using language with confidence can empower all of us.
